Traffic, last minute shopping with all the rush and little to no parking spots left you would swear its weekend rush. I am not running late with gifts this year but unluckily for me I had one more gift to buy and was caught in all the hassle today.
All the lights, music, food and decorations everyone loves this season it either has a meaning to some or it traditions brings happiness in lives. Christmas movies, children looking forward to seeing Santa in malls and making a wish list for Christmas morning is something that’s a beauty to see. Schools are closed for children in my little island of Trinidad and so many take this opportunity to take time with their little ones, some even get them involved in all the preparation. It was like this when I was young, I found myself helping with all the decorations, cleaning, painting, volunteering and heading Christmas events. All these moments became traditions that has passed along from generation to generation.
Now as a adult I still heavily participate in all the Christmas activities and appreciate this season more than anything. I also have to take a moment and be appreciative as so many do not have that privilege or cannot celebrate this season the same way . Many have lost a loved one, some are without jobs or unable to celebrate with a family member or partner because of distance. This can take a toll and can easily set a tone for a season.
My only wish for Christmas is that everyone finds happiness in everything and keep each moment special this season. Make traditions if you don’t have, smile at a stranger, play Christmas music even if its for 10 minutes, give a meal to the homeless or just relax. Whatever is planned I hope everyone find a little peace, joy and happiness. In the beauty of this season.
